BEGINNER PORTRAIT DRAWING PART 1 (16+)
Portraits don’t need to be intimidating! Carol will break it down for you; each week we’ll do a warm-up exercise followed by in-depth instruction on a single feature. We’ll review the structure and proportions of a face. Carol will provide demos and instruction how to describe the eyes, nose and mouth. At the end of several classes you’ll be much better prepared to tackle a whole portrait.
BEGINNER PORTRAIT DRAWING PART 2 (16+)
For this follow-up session, we’ll put it all together! We’ll use the skills you learned in Part 1 and copy a small portrait in pencil. I’ll demonstrate and show you step-by-step how to place the features and get a good likeness. You’ll find that drawing a portrait can be meditative and rewarding and not at all as difficult as you’d think.
URBAN SKETCHING (16+)
You can capture the world around you with a sketchbook and a couple of pens! Sue will introduce you to the wonderful pastime of urban sketching through in-class instruction and sketch time. Class exercises and demos will cover sketching basics such as tools and techniques, composition, perspective, the use of texture and tone. And in 4 weeks you will have a good foundation to further develop your own personal, visual narrative of the world. Supplies will be provided.
